Swedish Car SHOP UPDATE: We have just invested in new State-of-the-Art Tire Mounting and Computer Balancing equipment.  We now can mount all the 18" and 19" wheels and tires as well as racing tires.  We can also balance your fancy new ipd alloy wheels without any ugly weights showing on the outer rim.

We didn't make the race do to my dad's passing, but one of our customers and

VOLVO friend Jeff Babock raced his '68 VOLVO 122.  Jeff finished 6th, I believe.

13 VOLVO's showed up for the rainy weekend of racing.  Jeff liked his new Goodyear racing rain tires that we recommended. Jeff has a lot of great photos if anyone is interested.

October 2011

This year the SCCA changes made it a little harder to get invited to the runoffs. Yes, that's right, you need to be invited!! And we are proud that our VOLVO 1800 made it again this year!!
Road America is one of my favorite places in the world. So it's fun to have the runoffs here. We had a good week of qualifying best lap of 2.40.2. No VOLVO has ever done close to that - A step up from last year! This year there was 28 races at the Runoffs, the F/Production race 6 was on Friday, we finished 10th again a step up from last year. Remember, that these racers are the best amateur racers in the country. We may have gotten up to 8th place, but a little miss in the engine showed up the last few laps. Still, the VOLVO was clocked at 130.5mph, WOW! Can't wait till next year!!!!!!!
Unfortunately we will not be making the trip to the VOLVO Grand Prix at the Glen in New York. My father has been in and out of the hospital this summer and we need to stay close to home to look after him.
September 2011

Road America is one of the most beautiful tracks in the country, a favorite of many racers including Mario Andretti!!!

We will be at Road America Elkart Lake WI for the 48th running of the National Championship Runoffs Sept 19th - 25th for a week of qualifying and 3 days of races. Our race f/p is Friday afternoon.

Some sad news, Leonard Besinger Jr., the designer of Meadowdale Raceway died at age 76 in a car accident near his home in New Mexico.

August 2011

Randy raced his 1971 VOLVO 142E in the Champ Series Firecracker Regional race at Blackhawk Farms Raceway, now the oldest car in the class. It was an exciting race finishing 2nd place.

Anyone who does not think professional race cars drivers are athletes should try getting in a 3 layer fire suit, full face helmet and gloves on a 90 plus degree day. Indy car and NASCAR have 500 mile races. Once the green flag drops there's no time out or no half time!! Most people have no idea what that would take.

We will be at the National Championship SCCA Runoffs again this year in Rob's 68 VOLVO 1800 Sept 20-25. Also, another vintage VOLVO Gran Prix is shaping up from Watkins Glenn for Oct 14-16. Rob's 68 VOLVO 1800 won this event held at Road America in 2006.

July 2011

We raced our 68 VOLVO 1800 in the 56th running of the June Sprints at Road America. Hard to believe it has been going on this long! Rob turned a best lap of 240.6 around the 4 mile track. I think it’s the best vintage VOLVO lap ever in the history of the track! His car was clocked at 125 mph at 8200 rpm, not bad for a 4 cylinder pushrod motor. We finished 5th in the f/p class.

We also raced this past weekend at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet and finished 4th in the f/p class. With the points, we have we earned an invite to the SCCA Runoffs September 19th -25th, the highest level of club racing. We hope to see you there!

June 2011

We raced our 68 1800 at the Blackhawk Farms Raceway Double National race May 13th - 15th. The new engine ran well after we found the high speed miss. The weather was cold and rainy, but the sun came out on Sunday. This race is important for anyone from this area hoping to get to the SCCA Runoffs, as its 2 races in one weekend.

We finished on track with 4th in class the first race but moved to 3rd in the tech barn. Race 2 we qualified an impressive 2nd in the rain. Mario (Rob) thinks it's his driving, I think it's the tires! Rob was very impressed with how much power the new engine has and how good real racing Goodyear rain tires are. (For years we had 10 year old rains that Lester said are junk) And he knows as he drove Rob's car on them one year at BFR. We finished Sunday's race in the dry with another 3rd place. (Had a chance at 2nd) After Sunday's race many people started looking at the VOLVO, talking about how strong the motor sounded on the track. 7900 rpm on the straight!!! We had a good point's weekend for this event.

We are installing a new stepped header that was custom made for our B20 motor by Jerry Stahl, 116 Octane fuel, back to the Dyno and on to the 56th running of the June sprints at Road America June 17-19. This race is open to the public so stop by. It's a great event to see!

May 2011

We will be at the SCCA National race at Blackhawk Farms Raceway May 14th and 15th. Racing both days! K-Pax Racing won the touring car race at Miller Motorsports Park in the newly built VOLVO C30.

April 2011

We are getting ready for the 2011 season. Come see us at the Blackhawk Farms Raceway in early May for the SCCA Nationals.

March 2011

We are busy rebuilding our cars for the 2011 racing season including rebuilding engines and upgrades. We will be at the Blackhawk Farms Raceway in early May.

Also, we hope to get to the Runoffs again this year in Robs 68 1800 and Randy will be running the ITB 71 142E again this year. Randy has won his last 8 races in row!!!

2011 SCCA National Runoffs

Sports Car Club of America, Inc announced today that the SCCA National Championship Runoffs will remain at Road America in Elkhart Lake WI through the 2013 event. The extension to the existing deal (originally a three year agreement though 2011) assures that the premier event for amateur road racers in North America will remain in Wisconsin through the events historic 50th running.

The 48th edition of the event which crowns National Champions in SCCA club racings 28 national classes will be held Sept 19th-25th 2011.
